  1. Almost all of the CSAC 2011/12 recommendations are reasonable and forward-looking. I found only one non-starter in the report – something that I find very aggravating. In the section on location-specific issues, there’s this offensive recommendation meant to address cycling issues on Mass. Ave.: “Long-term reconstruction should create a separated bicycle facility/cycle track.”

    I attended almost every meeting and I don’t recall this ever being discussed or any such recommendation being made. I suspect it was inserted by one of the cycle track advocates within the Community Development Department (CDD). When recommendations were being finalized, the process was that CDD would write the draft and changes were only made when a committee member raised an issue. I seriously doubt whether the committee made such an idiotic recommendation.
