Campaign Announcement – Hasson J. Rashid

Write-In Candidate for 25th Middlesex State House District

“THE PEN IS MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD (SO WRITE ME IN).”

Dear beloved public citizens and residence, this is an official notice directed, towards informing the public of Cambridge, MA of my intentions of becoming a Write-In Candidate. I, Mr. Hasson J. Rashid of 820 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA have entered as a “Write-In Candidate for the Public Office,” that represent the “Twenty-Fifth Middlesex (25th) Commonwealth of Massachusetts Legislative District” of Cambridge, Massachusetts, for the Massachusetts House of Representatives. My registered voters party affiliation is that of Republican. As an older returning adult student, in May of 2003, I graduated from Lesley University, Cambridge, MA with an undergraduate BS degree in Human Service/ With a Specialization in Counseling. On May 12 of 2007, I graduated from Springfield College’s, MA School of Human Service, Springfield, MA, with a MS degree in Human Service Organizational Management Leadership, with instructions anchored in Springfield College’s guiding philosophy as Humanics, which emphasize the dedication of spirit, mind, and body. My academic experience has nurtured me to go out into the community, and practice caring, and this is the attitude I had to offer in 2009, when I enrolled in the School of Public Service, PhD degree program at Capella University, MN to major in Human Service/ with a Specialization in Management of Nonprofit Agencies.

I’m also the holder of a Paralegal Certificate and Diploma for studies undertaken at Bristol County Community College, MA and Northeastern University, MA. I have served in internships, been employed, and the holder of numerous volunteered position, relating directly and indirectly, to the occupation of civil rights /human service worker. I produce and host, two TV programs, entitled “Human Service News and Information,” and “The History Community Life and Diversities of Muslim Americans in New England.” I also hold the position of board member, in two community entities. The first of these is “Cambridge Community TV (CCTV)” of Cambridge, MA, a public access station, and the “Alliance of Cambridge Tenants (ACT),” a citywide low income tenant advocacy organization. I have also received graduate instructions in Museum Studies at the Harvard Extension School.

As a professional and volunteered TV broadcast journalist, human service professional and worker, and low income tenant/civil rights advocate, I have also work to prevent and eliminate, discrimination against individuals in the delivery of programs and services administered, and to make all programs and activities, accessible to people with disabilities. I’m engaged with diverse populations, who need accommodations, or who have questions or complaints related to discrimination, or the delivery of human services. With my education and training, in paralegal studies, I’m also able to help out in supporting the basic legal rights of our district’s human service consumers. My two TV programs serves as a supportive community voices, for the diverse segments of the population, that represent my weekly base of community television viewers. As a TV announcer of a human service news and information program, at CCTV Cambridge, MA, I broadcast important news and information weekly, from and about the human service sector and industry, as it exist, here in Eastern Massachusetts, New England, and beyond, to a diverse public of human service consumers. Both non-paid volunteered positions, involve service to a diverse population of citizens, and immigrant residents. The desired impact has been helping human service organizations, agencies, and government entities to render better services, towards helping individuals and families, in becoming better human beings.

I worship as a practicing Muslim American with a quasi-mixtures of devotees from every corner of the earth here in Cambridge, MA. The idea of giving back to the community is foremost in my mind, and at the roots of my community commitments, as an American convert to the Islamic faith, and as Human Service professional Scholar-Practitioner, TV broadcaster, host, and producer of weekly TV Program, entitled “Human Service News and Information,” and board member, of a “Non-Commercial/ Nonprofit Community Public Access TV Station, and board member of a “city wide, low Income housing tenant advocacy organization,” in the City of Cambridge, Massachusetts.

All write-ins votes on my behalf should include my correct name and address as mentioned above. Courts have ruled that a vote should be counted whenever the intent of the voter can reasonably be determined, even if a voter omits the candidate’s address or makes a mistake in the name or address. In O’Brien v. Board of Election Commissioners, 257 Mass. 332, 338-339, 153 N.E. 553, 556 (1926) the court said “that if the intent of the voter can be determined with reasonable certainty from an inspection of the ballot, in the light of the generally known conditions attendant upon the election, effect must be given to that intent… The omission of the residence … on some ballots on which the name had been written by the voters rightly was found not to invalidate such votes.” Maiewski v. Board of Registrars of Voters, 347 Mass. 681, 199 N.E. 2d 680 (1964). This includes where a voter fails to complete the vote indicator next to the write-in space – the write-in or sticker vote will still be counted.

My sole intent in this communiqué is to inform you the public at large, residents and citizens of the 25th Middlesex of Cambridge, MA, of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, that I enter as a Write-In Candidate for public office being abandon by Rep. Alice Wolf. I thank you all in advance for your Write Ins.

Yours In Peace,
Mr. Hasson J. Rashid

  1. 25TH MIDDLESEX DISTRICT CAMPAIGN UPDATE!

It’s Time For Cambridge, MA to Send A Black American to Beacon Hill, As State Representative!
    Attention Cambridge Citizens and Residents:

Recently, In the new Cambridge Chronicles an article appeared entitled “ Women, Minorities Underrepresented.” I’m Mr. Hasson J. Rashid a Write-In Candidate for State Representative for the 25th Middlesex District of Cambridge, MA. David Riley, the author of the article, depiction of an underrepresented minority fits securely with how I live daily with this social classification. I’m claim title to being a Black American, Muslim American, American Citizen, Republican American, and Low Income American Write-In Candidate for Public Office. In all of these designations, I can be classified as minority member of each. I can testify that the road for me hasn’t been easy as Write-In Candidate or any of the other minority classifications that Mr. Riley covey’s and deliberates on in the September 27th issue of the New Cambridge Chronicles. Currently, my write-In campaign for public office is being boycotted by local media outlets and affiliates. The social/political predicament of the underrepresented poor here in Cambridge, MA has been known for decades, and little next to nothing has been administered to alleviate their concerns with added solutions. My run for political office and the plight of Cambridge’s Minority Community can be compared with the symbolism of the Biblical story of “Michael the Arch Angel,” and his struggle with “Satan,” over the body of “Moses/Musa” ( May His Soul Rest In Peace), or the Biblical story of “Climbing Jacob’s Ladder.’ My on going struggle for public office has been beset by, presaged, and over shadowed with, a boycott by local media outlets/ affiliates, by greedy high handiness, blinded political passions, favoritism, selfishness, ignorance, racism, and a host of other negations by strange forces here in the 25th Middlesex District. It is not a new discovery how minorities have been, and still are being treated in Cambridge, MA., especially the poor Black Americans, particularly by the gatekeepers of the local “Body Politic.” It’s like the news you hear of about a small southern towns, in it’s efforts to keep minority members in their places. Strange Northern negations indeed.

Now is the time to reflect on your political dilemma , before the election to be held on November 6, 2012 for Cambridge Voters to reflect on the past, present, and future of how the underrepresented minorities have been, and are still being treated in our midst, and what is to be done. It can all be settled at the polls on November the 6th 2012, but it won’t be if you all decide to restore decades of mistreatment and misinformation, by the traditional of nominated and endorse option(s) as your elected officials. Now is the time, think it over, and take time out for the truth, you all deserve it. People are wondering whether Cambridge’s elected officials, politicians, political scientist, and other members of the gatekeepers of the local “Body Politic” has become increasingly insensitive to the plight of the poor, and especially the poor “Black Americans?” Although some compassionate politicians are making efforts at the state government level to help people below the poverty line. Their local counterparts push continuously to restrict any effort to assist those in need. Is the average “Cambridge American” as sensitive to the needy in his or her own community and neighborhood, as their forefathers were in the early days?

If the local Body Politic lose their social values, they could well be on their way to becoming insensitive to the plight of the needy in their own community/neighborhood, let alone being concerned about people in other communities/neighborhood. Only time will tell whether the citizens of this mighty city will hold fast to their virtues which made it a successful city in the first place, or throw them “under the bus” in the name of freedom, and suffer the consequences of God’s wrath mentioned in Biblical prophecy.
I’m here to inform you and make you politically aware of another option, if you are dissatisfied with the slate of endorse option for your vote, to the point that you are ready to through away your vote. That option is my Write-In Campaign for this Public Office. My campaign slogan is as follows. “The Sword Isn’t As Powerful As The Pen, The Job Isn’t To Big For Me, Yes, I Can Win, If You Write Me In.”

Finally, I don’t need public office so that I can become a big shot, I pursue public office so that I can serve the people the fruits of my life, professional, and academic experiences. Jesus ( May His Soul Rest In Peace) said “ He Who Would Be Great Among You, Let Him/ Her Be Your Servant.” A servant serves the needs of the people, not the wants of the Status Quo.

Yours In Peace, Mr. Hasson J. Rashid, For State Representative of The 25th Middlesex District, P.O. Box Cambridge, MA 02139

    Peace Be Unto You,

    Dear Ms. Fuller,

I’m Mr. Hasson J. Rashid a Write-In Candidate for State Representative of the 25th Middlesex District,I would like to inform you of an online conversation I had between myself, Susan Yanow and Nancy Ryan, back in April of this year, concerning the rejection of a press release Informing Area4 subscribers to this list, of my intentions to launch a Write-In Campaign for the public office of State Representative for the 25th Middlesex District. They both were like minded concerning this Area 4 discussion forum,in that it was only fixed for nonpartisan politics and voting. Reference to my Write-In Campaign was negated by both, yet and still your announcement of the[Area4] Voter Registration Drive tomorrow at Pisani Center, is the direct outcome of partisan politics. The extending of an invitation for volunteers to contact the following makes it so:

“If you can volunteer for any of these events, please contact Annie Nagle or Marjorie Decker or Carolyn Fuller.”

This was taken from your e-mail sent out to Area 4 subscribers.Ms. Yanow said the following to me in the April 2012 e-mail

” I am sorry that the policy of the listserve does not allow any political candidates, regardless of party affiliation(Yanow).”

Well tell me what is it doing referring potential volunteers to the e-mail addresses of Ms. Warren and Ms/ Council Woman Decker. This is an outright example of hypocrisy and straddling the fence, on you all’s part. I assure you that your efforts to conduct effective voters registration on Friday October 12th 4:00pm-6:30pm at the Pisani Center at Washington Elms and Newtowne Court,Monday and Tuesday, October 15th and 16th 4:00pm-6:30pm in the Community Room at Roosevelt Towers and Jefferson Park both Monday and Tuesday at both locations, won’t truly be an effective nonpartisan voter engagement campaigning, when it is all so obvious now that it is not. I pray that the innocent community members of Area4 see through this flimsiness that’s unfolding right before there very eyes.

    Yours In Peace,
    Mr. Hasson J. Rashid,

    Message:
ATTENTION CAMBRIDGE,MA VOTERS: PLEASE RESSURRECT AND RESTORE, TRUE
POLITICAL VALUES IN THE 25TH MIDDLESEX DISTRICT BY WRITING ME IN.

Currently, when one takes a look at politics as standing in the 25th Middlesex District, it can immediately and easily, be seen that a balanced slate (diversities of parties, political representation, etc.) of candidates, on the November 2012 ballot for the general election(s) doesn’t exist. This is insanity, it’s even undemocratic, but also at the same time, characteristic of the type of conventional politics, that existed and flourished, during the times of pre and post, colonial slavery in the Western Hemisphere. That type of conventional politicking has existed in the 25th Middlesex District, for years, if not for decades. Again, currently, only one so-called conventional candidate will appear on the November 2012 ballot in representation for the 25th Middlesex District. For some strange reason(s), no conventional opposition arose as a balancing factor. Something remains nebulous when the democratic spirit of competition has been divorced or negated, from the common election contest. Indeed, a negative set of circumstance are responsible, and do exist at this very moment in time, as far as the 25th Middlesex Districts’ political race for public office is concerned.

I think God for waking me, and blessing me with insight to see the evolution of this so-called conventional election contest, being surrounded by a negative set of circumstances. I continue to think God for granting me with the foresight to counter act this strange phenomenon, by launching of my Non-Conventional “Write-In Candidacy for public office.” My conscious objects to the ensuing form of conventional political greed and robbery, that has been measure out, and transpiring for the so-called non-contested state representative seat, comprising the 25th Middlesex District, of Cambridge, MA, on general election day November 6, 2012. It is one of the main reasons, I have wrote myself into this election. This empty show of politics must be reversed, so I’m hoping and praying, that the consciousness of voters, within the 25th Middlesex District is awaken and steered, into becoming politically aware of this farce. Help me to add balance and integrity, back into the electoral process, body politic, of the 25th Middlesex District, let your choice be given and issued, in supporting my humble efforts as a Write-In Candidate for public office/ 25th Middlesex District on November 6, 2012. It’s up to you the voters to end this cascade of greed, robbery, false and fake impressions. Let authentic political values be resurrected and restored once again in the 25th Middlesex District. You all have suffered long enough, and subjected by the antics of our local political status qou . Remember, “The Pen Is Mightier Than The
Sword, The Job Isn’t To Big For Me, Yes I Can Win, So Seek The Way and Write Me In,” come November 6th, 2012. Thank you in advance.
