Nominations Welcomed for Cambridge Preservation Awards!

9 Walnut Ave.The Cambridge Historical Commission is seeking nominations for this year’s Preservation Awards program. Nominations, for projects completed between January and December 2013, are due at the Commission no later than noon on Friday, February 28, 2014. More information on the program is available at the Cambridge Historical Commission office at 831 Massachusetts Avenue, online at www2.cambridgema.gov/Historic/awards.html, or by calling (617)349-4683.

Preservation AwadsResidents and property owners, neighbors and visitors, architects and contractors are invited to nominate projects that contribute to the preservation of Cambridge’s historic character and its built environment. Projects may involve restoration, rehabilitation, adaptive use, neighborhood conservation, landscape preservation, archaeology, or preservation education, and can include private homes, institutional buildings, or commercial and industrial properties. Since 1997, the Cambridge Historical Commission has annually celebrated outstanding contributions to historic preservation throughout the city. Nominating a project is an excellent way to recognize the good stewardship of property owners and the hard work of fine craftsmen and building professionals. An awards reception will take place in May during Preservation Month.
